This October, Brian and I will have been married for 10 years! A vacation in October wasn’t going to work with our schedules so we planned a trip in July with our friends, Monica and Dave. We went to Puerta Vallarta Mexico. It was our first time visiting the west coast of Mexico. The ocean water was sooo warm! The locals were extremely friendly too! Monica and Dave used their timeshare points to rent a 2 bedroom villa at a beautiful 5 star resort. We were spoiled for 7 glorious days!
The first day we shopped at the local grocery store (which was quite an experience)! My 4 years of Spanish in High School and use of it during my years as a housekeeping manager in Chicago certainly helped us communicate! The rest of that day we spent enjoying the resort and the all-inclusive f&b! The next day we decided to venture toward the Malecon (boardwalk) and downtown. We didn’t quite make it that far though… we found this adorable little bar on the beach where we played cards and were served our $1 Modelos by a 5 year old little girl. The weather was very hot and very humid, but cooling off in the Pacific was easy! After that we ventured a little further and checked out the Sheraton Resort. We enjoyed their pool for a few hours and played cards in the open air restaurant. It was now time for Brian to nap so he headed back to the hotel with Dave while Monica and I went for a super fun horseback ride downtown.
On Tuesday, we went ziplining over the canopy of the rainforest. Los Veranos Canopy Tour is #1 in Mexico and #2 in the world. The ziplining was so much fun! The tour guides convinced us to try some daredevil stunts with them where we rode backwards and leaned all the way back, one-handed! CRAZY FUN! After the tour, we enjoyed a tequila tasting, awesome food and drinks at the restaurant, a rock water slide and rope swing into the river. This was an amazing day!!!!
On Wednesday, we went on a ATV tour where we got to check out some really cool small towns. Halfway through the ride, we stopped for lunch at a river. That night we went to one of the most beautiful view restaurants ever! Ah Caramba! The food was amazing too. After the we enjoyed the dancing to 80s music at Punto V Club on the Malecon.
Thursday we went deep sea fishing, but unfortunately there were no fish biting. 😦 We snorkeled a little and saw dolphins on the way back.
Friday was all about shopping at the flea market and trying to savor our last day of vacation.
We were all happy to be headed home to see our kids, but sad to say goodbye to days of relaxing….
